Meet your host, Jody Baden, President of Transparency In Politics

As an elected school board member in Reno, NV, I was shocked to learn that I was not required to have a background check to run for office. In my research, I learned that a background checks is almost never a requirement to run for office anywhere! That's why I started Transparency In Politics in 2022.

True story: In 2024, a certain person was appointed as the City Manager of the small town of Zebulon, North Carolina, near the capital of Raleigh. This appointment was confirmed by the Zebulon Board of Commissioners. It was later discovered that the appointee had a past that convinced some city business leaders that more vetting needed to be done for public officials. The Transparency In Politics Background Check program was just what they were looking for.

For more information on how the Transparency In Politics Background Check program helped Zebulon have more confidence in public officials and how this can work for you, view our brief webinar on demand.
